Galactica Media: Journal of Media Studies

The fourth issue of Galactica Media in 2024 is dedicated to the special theme: “The Place, Role and Representation of Animals in Contemporary Media.” This issue features articles that explore various aspects of the interaction between animals and media spaces. Readers will learn about how Istanbul's cats have become symbols in social networks, the concepts of interfaces designed for interaction with animals, efforts to rescue pets during the COVID-19 lockdown, and the construction of the image of the Russian bear in global cartoons. The studies also cover Chinese users' narrative practices in the game Tencent Pets. In addition, you will learn how modern AI is trained using cats and why cats are said to be “advocates of communism.”

In addition to the thematic section, this issue includes articles on a wide range of current topics: cinema, the philosophy of the digital society, the study of computer games, new media, and much more. Special attention is given to cultural, technological and social transformations.

This issue is intended for media researchers, cultural studies scholars, anthropologists, AI specialists, and anyone interested in contemporary humanities and technological trends.
